How to Choose CS2 Settings for Your Hardware?

Optimal CS2 graphics settings depend on your GPU, CPU, RAM and screen resolution. There is no universal set of settings that will equally suit an RTX 4090 owner and a GTX 1060 owner. FPSUP analyzes your hardware and automatically selects values for each CS2 advanced graphics setting.

For weak hardware (GTX 1050–1660, older Ryzen 3–5) we disable dynamic shadows, reduce model detail and enable FidelityFX Super Resolution to compensate. For powerful hardware (RTX 4070+, Ryzen 7 5800X+) we add anisotropic filtering and model detail that improve visuals without noticeable FPS impact.

Why Is It Important to Set Up CS2 Graphics Correctly?

How it works: FPSUP determines your setup's performance tier and selects the optimal balance between FPS and tactical visibility — for example, shadows stay on medium even on weak hardware, because on low settings player shadows disappear. All automatic, no guessing.

What GPU Do You Need for CS2?

For comfortable play in Counter-Strike 2 at 1080p, a GPU like the GTX 1660 Super or Radeon RX 580 is sufficient. These cards provide stable 100+ FPS on medium settings. For 144 Hz gaming, GTX 1070 Ti or better is recommended. For 240 Hz — RTX 3070 and above.

CS2 is built on the Source 2 engine and is well optimized, so even older GPUs show decent results. The difference between RTX 3060 and RTX 4060 in CS2 is much smaller than in demanding AAA games.

Which CPU to Choose for CS2?

CS2 makes active use of multithreading, but single-core performance plays the key role. The optimal choice in 2026 is Intel Core i5-13400F or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. For maximum FPS at high refresh rates (240+ Hz), consider Ryzen 7 5800X3D or Intel i7-13700K.

The CPU affects minimum FPS and frame stability. A powerful GPU with a weak CPU creates a bottleneck and reduces performance.

How to Properly Configure CS2 for Maximum FPS?

For maximum FPS in Counter-Strike 2, correctly set several key parameters. Vertical sync should be disabled — it adds input lag, critical for a competitive shooter. Ambient Occlusion and particle detail are also better turned off — they load the GPU without tactical benefit. Disable MSAA on weak and mid-range hardware. Keep shader detail at minimum.

Shadows are better left at medium rather than turned off completely: with shadows disabled, player shadows disappear, reducing visibility of enemies around corners. This works against you tactically.

Does Monitor Refresh Rate Affect CS2 Settings?

Yes, directly. Having FPS significantly higher than your monitor's refresh rate is pointless — the monitor won't display the extra frames. Limit FPS in the CS2 menu to your monitor's refresh rate, and in matches — leave unlimited (for powerful hardware) or also limit to refresh rate (for weak hardware). This stabilizes frame rate and reduces GPU temperature in the menu.

FPSUP does not require registration and does not store personal user data. We may receive the following information:

Device data — browser type, operating system, screen resolution. This information is used in aggregated form only to improve the Service and does not allow user identification.

Feedback form data — if you voluntarily submit feedback through the form, the message is sent to us via a secure channel (Telegram). We do not request or store name, email or other personal data in this form.

Technical logs — standard server logs (IP address, request time, URL) may be automatically saved by the hosting provider. We do not use this data to identify users.

3. Data Processing Purposes

The information received is used exclusively for: ensuring the Service operates, improving optimizer recommendations, responding to user requests.

4. Transfer of Data to Third Parties

We do not sell, transfer or disclose user data to third parties, except as required by law. The Service may use third-party analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics) — in which case their privacy policies also apply.

5. Cookies

Currently FPSUP does not use cookies to track users. When connecting analytics services, we will notify users and update this Policy.

6. Data Storage

Messages from the feedback form are stored in the messenger and can be deleted upon request. We do not build user databases or maintain visitor profiles.
